Bi-directional Dynamic Direct Simple Shear device

 

This innovative device enables direct simple shear testing in two directions, going beyond the conventional single-direction approach. It features a secondary shear actuator positioned at 90 degrees to the primary actuator, allowing for versatile functionality.

As a variable direction machine, the secondary shear axis can operate independently or in tandem with the primary axis, facilitating direct simple shear in any horizontal direction. This capability allows for tests with continuously rotating shear vectors, enhancing the flexibility and accuracy of your experiments.

It provides a platform for different experimental setups, such as test cells, or building structures that serve as a boundary for various applications. The experimental setup represents a friction-less bearing vibration table with a large triaxial cell. The objective of such machinery is to investigate the grain skeleton under cyclic and dynamic loads. This tests the liquefaction behavior under saturated and unsaturated conditions.
