FRICTION AFTER POLISHING TESTING DEVICE

Wehner Schulze Device according to STANDARD: EN 12697-49:2022

This newly developed fully automatic device was manufactured as a laboratory test device for the measurement of friction after polishing of asphalt, concrete and other materials using the Wehner/Schulze method.

With this test method representative samples in different geometries and sizes can be tested in order to simulate the skid resistance behaviour of vehicles on the road surface. The technology for this test method has been further developed over many years in coordination with experienced institutes and adapted to an international industrial standard without changing the previous measuring principle.

In addition, the service functions and handling of the testing machine were optimized. The revised operation is supplemented by a newly developed control system and software with a fully automatic test sequence.

With the Wehner/Schulze testing device, all known skid resistance tests and forecasts can be carried out in accordance with DIN EN 12697- 49, RVS 11.06.23 and FGSV TP Gestein-StB Part 5.4.2.

  • Applications
  • All components that come into contact with samples or fluids are made of corrosion resistant materials.
  • Space saving due to compact design (integration of the quartz flour container into the control cabinet).
  • Automatic carriage positioning - manual movement is no longer necessary.
  • Instead of the double drilling machine columns used in the old machines, the polishing and testing heads were arranged together on a cross beam, thus avoiding measurement inaccuracies due to alignment problems or adjustment of both assemblies.
  • Monitoring of the filling level of the quartz flour container.
  • A newly designed quartz flour container with a powerful agitator prevents the propeller from “baking” into the sediment and improves cleaning.
  • Use of a cooling jacket with guide spiral in the quartz flour container to prevent oxidation and contamination and to exclude connection faults.
  • Use of a microprocessor - controlled professional thermostat for cooling and heating the test and polishing water.
  • Compatibility of polishing rollers and measuring rubbers with those of other suppliers.
  • Rigid frame construction for highest angle accuracy, flatness and plane parallelism of polishing and test head.
